A collectible 1983 postcard featuring a panoramic view of the new residential districts of Kremenchuk.

What is shown on the postcard

The image depicts a panoramic view of a residential area in Kremenchuk. In the foreground, surrounded by dense green trees, low- to mid-rise apartment blocks (mostly 5-story Khrushchev-era buildings) are visible. In the background, on an elevated plane, a line of modern high-rise panel apartment buildings (9 or more stories high) stands out, typical of the mass Soviet housing construction of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Historical note

In the post-war decades, Kremenchuk developed rapidly as a major industrial center in the Poltava region. The growth of mechanical engineering, oil refining, and other industrial plants necessitated large-scale housing construction. In the 1970s and 1980s, new microdistricts like Molodizhnyi and the Nagorna part were actively built. Construction utilized standardized series of panel and brick buildings, providing apartments for thousands of workers and employees.

Present day

Today, the residential quarters shown on the postcard form the core housing stock of Kremenchuk’s residential areas. These Soviet-era panel and brick buildings remain in active use. Over the past decades, the surrounding areas have become heavily forested and green, turning the former construction sites into leafy, mature residential neighborhoods with established infrastructure.
