This section collects view postcards of Zhytomyr through 1991. These images record the regional centre of Polissia in the late Soviet period.
Subjects include Victory Square, the railway station, the monument to V.G. Korolenko near School No. 6, and the memorial house-museum of S.P. Korolyov. Also featured are the regional music and drama theatre, the Yalynka hotel and restaurant, new city developments, and a view of the Teterev River.
Administrative buildings and a monument to rocket designer Sergei Korolyov appear on several cards — familiar landmarks on view-card series of the time. One card shows a monument to V.I. Lenin on a city square.
Dates and captions are useful for collectors and urban historians. The catalogue is expanded with new views of Zhytomyr; browse the current cards and compare them with other Ukrainian cities in the Old Postcards archive.
