Historical note
The building of the Zhytomyr Regional Music and Drama Theater was constructed in 1966 on the central square of the city (known as Lenin Square during the Soviet era, now Soborny Square). Designed in the Soviet modernist style, the structure features extensive glass facades and strict geometric lines.
Present day
Today, the institution is known as the Zhytomyr Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Ivan Kocherha. The building has preserved its original architectural appearance and continues to serve as the region’s main theatrical venue. The square in front of it, now named Soborny Square, remains a key public space.
