“Unsorted” means exactly that: these are cards that have not yet been filed under a theme, so the mix is wide in both subject and date, from 1957 to 1990 and from folk dance to early motor cars.
The earliest is a 1957 card titled “Kazakh folk dance Kamazhai”. A card captioned “Olympiad 80” is dated 1980, the year Moscow hosted the Games of the XXII Olympiad from 19 July to 3 August.
Two motoring cards from the second half of the 1980s look back to the start of the century. A 1985 card shows the 1913 Audi “Alpensieger” (“Alpine winner”), the nickname of the Audi Type C, which won the Austrian Alpine Rally three years running, 1912–1914. A 1987 card features the Russo-Balt, a car brand of the Russo-Baltic Wagon Factory, which began building cars in 1909. There are also Ukrainian-language invitations to school graduation parties from 1981 and 1982, and a 1989 card with a hedgehog.
Some of these Soviet postcards will eventually move to themed sections; until then, browse them here by the year on the caption.
