This section collects 52 view postcards of Minsk through 1991, dated 1956, 1980, 1983, and 1990. The cards record the capital of Belarus from post-war rebuilding to the late Soviet period.
Early 1956 cards show the Yanka Kupala Theatre, the Trade Unions’ Palace of Culture, the Polytechnic Institute, Stalin Avenue, and Lenin Street. Also featured are the station square and a memorial to soldiers and partisans of the Great Patriotic War.
Series from 1980 and 1983 cover Leninsky and Masherov Avenues, Lenin and Yakub Kolas Squares, the Palace of Sports, the Tourist and Belarus hotels, the RSDLP First Congress House-Museum, the BSSR Exhibition Centre, the Mound of Glory, the Victory Monument, and the Svisloch embankment. One card shows the Khatyn memorial complex.
Cards from 1990 add Troitsk Suburb, the Hero City obelisk, the musical comedy theatre, the bus station, the BSSR Government House, and new residential districts. Dates and captions are useful for collectors in the Old Postcards archive.
