This section collects view postcards of Irkutsk through 1991. These cards record a major Siberian city on the Angara River in the late Soviet period.
Cards from 1978 show the Angara River, the Angara Hotel, the Palace of Pioneers, and the Institute of Foreign Languages. Also included are obelisks, the library building (“White House”), and an old wooden house.
A 1980 card shows a shopping complex — one of the few later-dated views in this set. Together they illustrate central streets and public buildings of Irkutsk at the time.
Dates and captions are useful for collectors and urban historians. The catalogue is expanded with new views of Irkutsk; filter by year and compare Irkutsk with other Russian cities in the Old Postcards archive.
