This section collects view postcards of Berdyansk through 1991 — a resort and industrial city on the Sea of Azov. The 1986 series records the late-Soviet appearance of the city.
Subjects include the memorial to liberator soldiers, monuments to P.D. Osipenko, P.P. Schmidt, and military pilots, and the Ulyanov house museum. Featured are the Lazurny sanatorium, department store, Kristall restaurant, and Brigantina children’s cafe.
The collection also includes the city Palace of Culture, Pioneers Palace, I.I. Brodsky Art Museum, experimental oil-and-grease plant, a view of the Melitopol highway, and central administrative buildings.
The cards are useful for collectors and urban historians of the Azov region. Browse Berdyansk views and compare them with other Ukrainian cities in the Old Postcards archive.
