Historical note
Peter Schmidt (1867–1906) was a Black Sea Fleet lieutenant involved in the Potemkin mutiny. Monuments to him were erected in port cities, including the Azov region.

The post house and memorial area were part of the central cityscape. The postcard records their 1986 appearance.
