Old postcards Lilies

The Lilies section is very small, and so far only the 1976 card Tiger lily names a species.

The tiger lily, Lilium lancifolium, is an East Asian species native to China, Japan, Korea and the Russian Far East. It is easy to recognise by its bright orange, strongly recurved petals marked with dark spots. Another giveaway is the small dark bulbils that form where the upper leaves meet the stem; the plant reproduces from them.

The 1968 and 1979 cards are captioned simply Lilies, without naming a species. Lilium is a genus of perennial bulbous plants, and a caption like that does not identify the variety. If you were looking for vintage postcards with lilies, these are Soviet cards from the late 1960s and the 1970s, scanned from the originals.
