Brest

This section collects 35 view postcards of Brest through 1991, dated 1972 and 1973. The cards record Belarus’s western gateway on the Mukhavets and Bug rivers in the late Soviet period.
Subjects include the Brest Hero-Fortress, the Courage monument, the memorial to internationalist soldiers, and the Victory Square memorial. Also featured are the Brest Regional Drama Theatre, puppet theatre, railway station, and Belarus Hotel.
The collection includes Lenin Avenue, Sovetskaya pedestrian street, Lenin Square with a monument to V.I. Lenin, the Intourist Hotel, and a city panorama. The 1973 series adds views of the fortress, embankment, and central streets.
Dates and captions are useful for collectors and urban historians. The catalogue is expanded with new views of Brest in the Old Postcards archive.
