What is shown on the postcard

Historical note
The development of the Eastern Industrial District of Brest began in the 1960s as part of a large-scale industrialization program of the Byelorussian SSR. During this period, major enterprises of Soviet importance were built in the city, including the Brest Electromechanical Plant (BEMZ), a carpet-weaving mill, a hosiery factory, and a gas equipment plant. The construction of these plants was accompanied by the creation of new residential microdistricts (specifically the Vostok district) and developed social infrastructure for the workers.
Present day
Today, the Eastern Industrial Zone of Brest retains its industrial profile, though most of the Soviet giants have undergone restructuring. Some of the production facilities have been modernized and continue manufacturing (such as GEFEST or the Brest Hosiery Factory), while other buildings have been converted into shopping, office, and warehouse facilities.
