Card Soldiers Monument Komsomol, Gomel, 1979

Historical note

The Monument to Gomel Komsomols was inaugurated in 1964 to mark the 20th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi occupation. The monument was funded by donations from local Komsomol members and youth. The architectural composition consists of a 25-meter obelisk and a bronze sculpture of a young soldier, symbolizing the resilience of the defenders.

Present day

Today, the memorial complex is situated in the square at the intersection of Karpovicha and Zharkovskogo streets. The monument has been restored, with its original compositional elements preserved, and the surrounding square remains well-maintained. The site is registered as a state historical and cultural heritage monument of the Republic of Belarus.
