This 1982 double-view postcard depicts two prominent landmarks of Yevpatoriya: the monument to the Yevpatoriya landing force and the marine passenger terminal.
What is shown on the postcard
The left side of the postcard shows the monument to the Yevpatoriya landing on the Simferopol Highway. The bronze sculpture is mounted on a high wedge-shaped concrete pedestal, with people laying flowers at its base. The right side features the facade of the Yevpatoriya seaport passenger terminal with its rooftop lettering, colonnade, and a landscaped area with blooming red canna lilies.
Historical note
The landing force monument was unveiled in 1970 at the coastal site where the tragic events of the Yevpatoriya landing operation took place in January 1942. The marine terminal, designed in the Soviet modernist style, served as an important transport hub for the resort city.
Present day
The monument on the Simferopol Highway is well-preserved and remains a key historical memorial site. The port terminal building on Moryakov Square also stands today, though passenger services at the port are currently suspended.
