The Monument to Yakub Kolas was solemnly unveiled on November 3, 1972, in Yakub Kolas Square in Minsk. It is dedicated to Konstantin Mitskevich, known by his pen name Yakub Kolas (1882–1956), a prominent Belarusian writer, People’s Poet of the BSSR (1926), and academician of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR. The monumental complex was created by sculptors O. Bembel, A. Anikeichyk, L. Gumilevsky, and architects Yu. Gradov, G. Zaborov, L. Levin.
