Historical note
The building was constructed during the interwar period (1930s) when Subcarpathian Rus was part of Czechoslovakia, showcasing the characteristic features of Czechoslovak functionalism. After World War II, it was repurposed as an extracurricular children’s center—the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren. It served as the main hub for youth activities and clubs in Uzhhorod until the mid-1980s.
Present day
In 1985, the Palace of Pioneers relocated to a newly built, spacious facility on Studentska Embankment (now known as PADIYUN). The historical building on Naberezhna Grendzhi-Donskoho retained its educational purpose and currently houses the Zakarpattia Regional Center for Scientific and Technical Creativity of Youth (ZOCNTTUM).
