Historical note
The T-34 tank monument was inaugurated in Mukachevo in 1969 at the intersection of Moskovska Street (now Yaroslava Mudroho) and Krupskoi Street (now Nedetsei). The monument commemorated the achievements of tank crews who participated in the Carpathian-Uzhgorod offensive operation in October 1944, which resulted in Soviet forces capturing the city.
Present day
In April 2022, by decision of the Executive Committee of the Mukachevo City Council, the Soviet Tankers Monument was completely dismantled. The T-34-85 tank was removed from its pedestal and put into storage, with plans to eventually transfer it to a museum.
