What is shown on the postcard
The image shows the perspective of Negruzzi Boulevard, split by a central green median with trees. On both sides of the roadway are multi-story residential and administrative buildings constructed during the Soviet era. In the foreground to the right, the roofs of contemporary buildings are visible, while the background features the Monument to the Liberators of Chișinău at the intersection with Lenin Avenue (now Stefan cel Mare Boulevard). Historical note
Negruzzi Boulevard was planned in the post-war years as a critical transit artery connecting the railway station with the city’s central district. Developed primarily between the 1950s and 1970s, the street was built in the Soviet modernist style, resulting in a spacious and highly functional urban ensemble featuring wide sidewalks and structured greenery.
Present day
Today, Constantin Negruzzi Boulevard retains its status as a vital traffic artery in Chișinău. The original architectural silhouettes of the buildings remain intact, although the ground floors have been extensively converted into retail spaces, accompanied by modern storefronts and commercial signage.
