A 1982 double-view postcard featuring the Maxim Gorky monument and the resort park area in Yevpatoriya.
What is shown on the postcard
The left side of the postcard depicts a vertical light-colored stele featuring a bronze bust of writer Maxim Gorky with his facsimile signature. In front of the stele is an active fountain inside a rectangular basin adorned with flowerbeds. The right side shows a landscaped park alley with pedestrians, lawns, decorative shrubs, and colorful flowerbeds.
Historical note
The monument to Maxim Gorky was erected on the embankment named after him in Yevpatoriya, commemorating the writer’s visit to Crimea in 1891. The sculptural composition with a fountain was designed as part of the coastal boulevard’s architectural and park ensemble, which became a popular recreation spot.
Present day
Today, the Gorky Embankment has been renovated, but the monument and the adjacent pedestrian zone retain their historical layout, remaining a major landmark of the resort city.
