What is shown on the postcard
The foreground of the postcard displays the building of the “Ukraina” Hotel, designed in a style characteristic of mid-20th century Soviet architecture. The building’s facade is adorned with numerous balconies featuring wrought-iron railings and a decorative cornice along the top edge. On the ground floor, clad in stone-like material, the hotel’s name “Україна” (Ukraina) is clearly visible in Ukrainian. The central part of the facade features windows with arched tops. Lush tree canopies are visible on the right side of the frame, and another multi-story building can be seen in the background.
Historical note
The “Ukraina” Hotel is one of Yevpatoria’s landmark sites. Its construction was completed in 1957. Designed in the spirit of Stalinist neoclassicism, with characteristic decorative elements and monumental scale, it immediately became one of the largest and most prestigious hotels in the resort city, hosting vacationers from across the Soviet Union. The building played an important role in the architectural ensemble of Yevpatoria’s central part.
Present day
Currently, the building continues to function as the “Ukraina” Hotel. Despite the decades that have passed and periodic renovations, its overall exterior has been preserved, although some details may have been altered or updated. The hotel remains a recognizable part of Yevpatoria’s urban landscape.
