This 1967 postcard features the “Solnechny” Children’s Sanatorium in Yevpatoria, a city renowned as an all-Union children’s health resort.

What is shown on the postcard

The postcard depicts the main building of the “Solnechny” Children’s Sanatorium, constructed in the style of Soviet modernism. The multi-story building features long rows of balconies, typical of resort architecture, and a fully glazed stairwell on its left side.

In front of the building are well-maintained flower beds, and along the pathway, a woman in a white coat, presumably a medical worker, walks with two children wearing pioneer scarves. A large spherical object, possibly a decorative element or lamp, is visible in the center of the flower bed.

Historical note

Yevpatoria has been recognized as a leading children’s resort since Soviet times, owing to its unique climate, mud therapy, and mineral waters. The “Solnechny” Children’s Sanatorium, formerly known as the N.K. Krupskaya Sanatorium, played a crucial role in the rehabilitation of children from across the Soviet Union. The main building depicted on the postcard was constructed in the 1960s, significantly expanding the sanatorium’s capacity to host and treat young patients.

Present day

Following the collapse of the USSR, the “Solnechny” Children’s Sanatorium continued its operations, maintaining its specialization. Currently, it still functions as a children’s health center, part of Yevpatoria’s sanatorium-resort complex, welcoming children for treatment and leisure.
