What is shown on the postcard
The photograph captures the two-story modernist building of the museum, featuring a rectilinear design with large glazed glass facades. Historical note
The Young Guard Museum was established in 1944 to commemorate the anti-fascist Komsomol underground organization that operated in the city during World War II. The modern building shown on the postcard was designed by architect G. Golovchenko and was inaugurated in 1970 to mark the 25th anniversary of victory in the war.
Present day
Today, the museum building remains in Sorokyne (renamed from Krasnodon in 2016 as part of Ukraine’s decommunization laws). The city is currently located within a temporarily occupied area of the Luhansk Oblast, which limits international research access to its archives.
