Historical note
The Monument to Volodymyr the Great, erected in 1853, is the oldest sculptural monument in Kyiv. The Park Bridge was constructed in 1956–1957 by the “Ukrproektstalkonstruktsiya” institute with the participation of bridge builder I. Barenboim, providing pedestrian access to the beaches of Trukhaniv Island.
Present day
Today, Volodymyrska Hill and the Park Bridge remain iconic landmarks of Kyiv. In 2019, a nearby pedestrian-bicycle glass bridge was opened, connecting Volodymyrska Hill with Khreshchatyi Park, further enhancing the area’s accessibility.
