Historical note
The Monument to Volodymyr the Great, erected in 1853 (sculptors V. Demut-Malinovsky, P. Klodt, and architect K. Thon), is the oldest surviving sculptural monument in Kyiv. The Parkovyi Pedestrian Bridge was designed by the “Ukrproektstalkonstruktsiya” institute and opened in 1957, providing convenient access to the beaches of Trukhaniv Island.
Present day
Volodymyrska Hill and the Monument to Volodymyr the Great remain core landmarks of Kyiv. The park has been thoroughly renovated, and in 2019, a new pedestrian and bicycle glass bridge was opened nearby, connecting Volodymyrska Hill with Khreshchatyi Park.
