What is shown on the postcard

The postcard shows the bronze statue of V.I. Lenin standing on a tall stepped pedestal made of red granite. The full-length figure is depicted with his right hand raised forward. The pedestal features the inscription “ЛЕНІН”. Tall flagpoles with red flags stand on both sides of the monument. Flower baskets are placed at its base. In the foreground, red rose bushes are visible, with green trees and a partly cloudy blue sky in the background.

Historical note

The monument to Vladimir Lenin in Brest was unveiled in 1958 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Byelorussian SSR. It was designed by sculptor M. T. Lastochkin and architect G. A. Zaborov. The monument became the central focal point of Lenin Square, around which the city’s administrative center was developed.

Present day

Today, the Lenin monument remains in its original location in central Brest. Lenin Square continues to serve as a venue for city events, and the overall appearance of the monument and the surrounding area has been preserved as shown in the 1973 postcard.
