What is shown on the postcard
The left side of the postcard depicts the modernist facade of the drama theatre, adorned with a themed theatrical relief. In front of the building, there are flowerbeds, decorative spruces, and arborvitae. The right side features the monument to Vladimir Dal, depicting the seated bronze figure of the writer on a tall granite pedestal.
Historical note
The theatre building on Teatralna Square was constructed in 1970 according to the design of architects G. Golovchenko, F. Vorobyov, and A. Anufrieva. The monument to Vladimir Dal, a native of Luhansk who wrote under the pseudonym ‘Kazak Lugansky’, was unveiled in 1981 on Angliyska Street (now Dal Street) near the house where he was born.
Present day
Today, the building on Teatralna Square houses the Luhansk Academic Russian Drama Theatre named after Pavel Luspekayev. The monument to V. I. Dal and his memorial house-museum continue to serve as significant cultural heritage sites in the city.
