What is shown on the postcard

The illustration depicts the central facade of the station building, featuring a dome topped with a spire. In the foreground, pedestrians and Soviet-era passenger cars from the mid-20th century (such as the GAZ-M-20 Pobeda) are visible. The architecture is defined by semi-circular windows, classic columns, and a sculptural composition above the main entrance.

Historical note

The original station building, constructed in the 1880s based on a design by Viktor Shreter, was destroyed in 1944 during World War II. The new monumental building in the Stalinist Neoclassical style was erected in 1952, designed by architect Leonid Chuprin.

Present day

Today, the Odesa Railway Station (Odesa-Holovna station) retains its historical architectural appearance and remains the primary transport hub of the city, serving domestic and international trains.
