Historical note

The Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life in Lviv was officially established in 1971 within the historical landscape park area of Shevchenkivskyi Hai. Authentic monuments of wooden architecture, including residential houses, churches, and farm structures representing various historical and ethnographic regions of Western Ukraine (Boyko, Lemko, Hutsul, Podillya, etc.), were relocated here.

Present day

Today, the open-air museum is named after Klymentiy Sheptytsky and remains one of the largest skansens in Eastern Europe. The museum grounds are actively visited by tourists, hosting ethnographic festivals and ongoing restoration works to preserve its unique wooden heritage.
