Historical note
The “Universytet” metro station was opened on November 6, 1960, as part of the first launch section of the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska line. The ground vestibule, designed as a domed pavilion, was built into the park area of the Botanical Garden. The station was named due to its proximity to the main building of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University.
Present day
Today, the station continues to operate regularly and holds the status of a local architectural monument. The exterior of the ground vestibule has mostly preserved its historical appearance, with the exception of the removed Soviet slogans.
