What is shown on the postcard
The postcard depicts a two-story building, painted in pink, surrounded by the greenery of tall trees. The central entrance is accentuated by a semicircular portico with white columns and a balustrade on the second floor. The facade is adorned with architectural elements typical of Neoclassicism with Art Nouveau touches. A pathway runs alongside the building, where several people are seen strolling. Sunlight casts expressive shadows from the trees onto the lawn and path.
Historical note
The building, known as the 2nd building of the Voskhod Sanatorium, was originally constructed in 1913–1914 as Villa Victoria for Princess S. A. Gagarina, designed by architect O. E. Lanceray. After the October Revolution, the villa was nationalized and subsequently became part of Feodosia’s sanatorium-resort complex. During the Soviet era, it became a component of the large Voskhod Sanatorium, which specialized in treating respiratory and nervous system diseases, as well as general wellness retreats.
Present day
Currently, the building continues to function as the 2nd building of the Voskhod Sanatorium, which remains one of Feodosia’s leading resort institutions. Despite the decades that have passed, the architectural appearance of “Villa Victoria” has been preserved, representing a valuable example of pre-revolutionary resort architecture and a cultural heritage site. The sanatorium continues to welcome guests, combining a historical atmosphere with modern services.
