Historical note
Karl Marx Street is one of the oldest streets in the historic center of Luhansk (originally named Patronnaya Street). The Railwaymen Palace of Culture was reconstructed in the post-war period over an earlier pre-revolutionary public structure. The redesign gave the facade its grand Soviet Neoclassical appearance, establishing it as a key architectural landmark of the street.
Present day
Today, the building retains its architectural integrity and operates as the Luhansk Palace of Culture. While the general layout of Karl Marx Street remains intact, the trees in front of the building have grown significantly, partially obscuring the facade, and modern cars have replaced the Soviet-era traffic.
