The image captures the sixteen-story curved building of the Slavutych Hotel, topped with the sign “ГОТЕЛЬ СЛАВУТИЧ”. Historical note
The Slavutych Hotel was built in 1972 according to the design of architects V. Ladnyi and G. Kulchitsky. The building, designed for 800 guests, became an architectural landmark at the entrance to the artificial island of Rusanivka—one of the first residential areas in the USSR built on reclaimed land. The hotel primarily accommodated foreign and Soviet tourists.
Present day
The hotel operated for several decades. In the late 2010s, the modernist building was closed for reconstruction. It was subsequently dismantled to make way for a new multi-functional residential complex.
