Historical note
The Rusanivka residential area was constructed between 1961 and 1974 on an artificial reclaimed island. The layout project was developed by architects H. S. Kulchytskyi and V. Ye. Ladnyi. A defining feature of the neighborhood was its developed water system: the island was surrounded by an artificial bypass canal about 2.7 kilometers long, equipped with a unique system of 15 light-and-music fountains installed in the riverbed.
Present day
Today, Rusanivka retains its historical urban planning structure and its status as one of the most comfortable residential districts in Kyiv. The pedestrian bridge and canal embankment remain popular recreational areas. In the 2010s, the canal fountains underwent a major reconstruction, receiving modern LED lighting and musical accompaniment.
