Historical note
The Soviet Neoclassical style theater building was constructed between 1953 and 1958, designed by architects O. Krylova and O. Malyshenko. It became the centerpiece of the Teatralna (Theater) Square architectural ensemble, which was developed after World War II on the site of destroyed urban quarters.
Present day
Today, the building retains its original architectural appearance and continues to serve as the main drama theater of the Poltava region. The theater remains active, and a major renovation of its interior and stage equipment was completed in the 2000s.
