Historical note
The building of the Odesa Opera House was constructed in 1887 based on the design of the famous Austrian architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. The interior of the foyer and grand staircases is executed in the elegant late French Rococo style. The candelabras and bronze lamps were cast from custom designs to harmonize with the rich gilded stucco work.
Present day
Today, the Odesa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is fully restored and remains operational. The grand staircase and its decorative features, including the gilded lamps, have been preserved in their authentic state and are protected cultural heritage sites of Ukraine.
