What is shown on the postcard

The postcard depicts a full-length monument of V. I. Lenin standing on a stepped pedestal made of grey granite blocks. The figure is depicted wearing an overcoat. The background features green trees, evergreens, and a clear blue sky.

Historical note

The monument was unveiled in 1967 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution on the square named after the event (historically known as Kulykove Pole). The project was designed by sculptors M. Manizer and O. Manizer, and architect I. Rozhin. It served as the central element of the square in front of the regional CPSU committee building.

Present day

In August 2006, the monument was dismantled and relocated to the Lenin Komsomol Park (now Savitsky Park). During later decommunization efforts in Ukraine, the monument was completely dismantled. Today, there is no monument on Kulykove Pole.
