Historical note
The Monument to the Heroes of the Kerch Sky was unveiled in 1974 to honor the Soviet military aviators who fought to liberate the Kerch Peninsula during World War II. The memorial is dedicated to the pilots of the 4th Air Army, the Black Sea Fleet aviation, and other air units that took part in the Kerch-Eltigen Landing Operation and the liberation of the city in 1943–1944.
