Historical note

The Memorial of Eternal Glory in Kyiv was officially inaugurated on November 6, 1957, commemorating the 14th anniversary of the city’s liberation from Nazi occupiers. The design was created by architects A. Miletsky, V. Baklanov, I. Novikov, and sculptor I. Pershudchev. The central element of the complex is the obelisk and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with the Eternal Flame.

Present day

Today, the memorial remains an integral part of the Park of Eternal Glory. The complex is fully preserved, serving as a site for official wreath-laying ceremonies during commemorative events. The obelisk and its surrounding grounds are protected as state heritage.
