What is shown on the postcard

In the foreground, a granite bust of Ivan Kotlov is mounted on a tall granite pedestal inscribed with “ИВАН КОТЛОВ”. In the background stands a two-story brick Soviet department store building featuring the Ukrainian sign “УНІВЕРМАГ”. A flowerbed is visible in front of the monument, with green trees and parked Soviet passenger cars on the right.

Historical note

The monument to Bolshevik revolutionary Ivan Fedorovich Kotlov (1874–1919), who worked in the Kryukiv railway repair workshops, was erected in Kryukiv (the right-bank district of Kremenchuk) during the Soviet era to commemorate a key local organizer of the labor movement.

Present day

As part of the decommunization process in Ukraine, the monument-bust to I. F. Kotlov in Kremenchuk was dismantled in 2015. The former department store building in the background remains but has been repurposed. The park formerly named after Kotlov has been renamed Pokrovsky Park.
