This Soviet postcard from 1973 features the main residential building of the Moldova Sanatorium, located in the Arcadia resort district of Odesa.

What is shown on the postcard

The image shows the monumental multi-story building of the sanatorium with the inscription “Санаторий Молдова” on the roof parapet. Historical note

The Moldova Sanatorium was established in Odesa to provide health resort services for workers from the Moldavian SSR. Built in the Soviet neoclassical style, the main building integrated seamlessly into the seaside resort zone. The facility specialized in treating musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders.

Present day

During the post-Soviet period, the sanatorium ceased active operations. The main building has remained abandoned for a long time, becoming a subject of property disputes. The surrounding park area has partially lost its original landscaping.
