A Soviet collectible postcard from 1970 showing the Lviv Hotel building from the avenue (known as 700th Anniversary of Lviv Avenue during the Soviet period).
What is shown on the postcard
The image captures the main multi-story facade of the Lviv Hotel in the style of Soviet modernism. Glass showcases are visible on the ground floor, with rows of rectangular windows above and balcony sections on the side of the building. In front of the hotel is a roadway with a Soviet trolleybus and a blue GAZ-21 Volga passenger car. Pedestrians, decorative shrubs, and street lamps are present along the sidewalks.
Historical note
The Lviv Hotel was built in 1965 according to the design of architects L. Nivina, A. Konsulov, and P. Kont. The building became one of the prominent examples of post-war modernist architecture in the city, reshaping Torhova Square and the beginning of the 700th Anniversary of Lviv Avenue (now Viacheslava Chornovola Avenue).
Present day
Currently, the three-star Lviv Hotel continues to operate. The exterior of the building has undergone changes during modern renovations: the facades were updated, window frames replaced, and the interiors modernized to meet contemporary service standards.
