Historical note
Komsomolska Street was one of the main urban planning axes of Krasnodon during the Soviet period. Its active construction with multi-story residential and public buildings took place in the 1970s and 1980s under the city’s general development plan, aimed at providing housing for local coal mining industry workers. The fourteen-story residential towers became the architectural landmarks of this area.
Present day
Currently, the street retains its planning structure and serves as an important transportation and residential artery of the city of Sorokyne. Most Soviet-era buildings have preserved their original facades, though the ground floors of the residential buildings have been partially converted into commercial spaces.
