Historical note
The Mariinsky Palace was founded in Kyiv in 1744 by order of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna. In the 19th century, following a devastating fire, the palace was reconstructed by architect Karl Mayevsky, who carefully preserved its original Baroque style.
Present day
Today, the Mariinsky Palace serves as the official ceremonial residence of the President of Ukraine. It hosts high-level state events, including receptions of foreign delegations, presentation of credentials, and official diplomatic summits.
