A collectible 1976 postcard showing the intersection of Gagarin and Frunze streets in Khmelnytskyi.
What is shown on the postcard
The foreground features the Monument to the Komsomols of Podillya, displaying three sculpted figures on separate stone pedestals next to a tall vertical spire. In the background, a multi-story residential building with a ‘Slava…’ slogan on its roof is visible. To the left is a roadway with a yellow-and-red trolleybus and streetlights.
Historical note
The monument was unveiled in 1968 to honor the Komsomol members of Podillya at the intersection of two busy municipal thoroughfares: Frunze Street (now Kamianetska) and Gagarin Street (now Heroiv Mariupolia). This area served as a key public square adjacent to the regional philharmonic hall.
Present day
As part of decommunization efforts, the monument was dismantled. Frunze Street has been renamed Kamianetska Street, and Gagarin Street has been renamed Heroiv Mariupolia Street. Today, the site features a renovated public space in front of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Philharmonic.
