Historical note
The Heroes of the Great Patriotic War Square developed as the central administrative and public square of the city during the post-war decades. The construction of the square’s landmark—the high-rise ‘Voroshilovgrad’ Hotel with 350 rooms—was completed in the 1970s, significantly altering the architectural landscape of the city center with its modernist scale.
Present day
The hotel building has preserved its architectural forms but was renamed the ‘Luhansk’ Hotel. The square and neighboring streets have undergone partial reconstruction, commercial signage on the ground floors has updated, and the surrounding trees have grown significantly larger.
