Card Eastern gazebo of the Livadia Palace, 1976

1

An archival postcard from 1976 featuring the Eastern Gazebo in the park ensemble of Livadia Palace.

What is shown on the postcard

The front side of the postcard depicts a park alley in Livadia. In the background, on the stone parapet of an arched bridge, stands an Eastern-style gazebo with a dome. Three vacationers — two men and a woman in summer clothes — are walking along the alley in the foreground. The path is surrounded by tall cypress trees and greenery.

Historical note

Livadia Park, laid out in the 19th century by gardener E. Libach, evolved over decades alongside the construction of the estate. Small architectural forms, including various gazebos and pavilions, harmoniously complemented the landscape design of the palace complex.

Present day

Today, the Livadia Park area is a cultural heritage site and a popular walking route for visitors to the palace-museum. Historical park structures and green spaces are preserved as part of the museum complex.
