What is shown on the postcard

Historical note

Minay Filippovich Shmyrev was one of the key organizers of the partisan movement in the Vitebsk region during World War II and a Hero of the Soviet Union. The bust was erected in 1969 in the square adjacent to the memorial museum dedicated to his memory. The sculptural portrait was created by Zair Azgur, a prominent Belarusian Soviet sculptor.

Present day

Today, the monument and the surrounding square are well-maintained. The M. F. Shmyrev Memorial Museum continues to operate, serving as an important historical and cultural site in Vitebsk where commemorative events are regularly held.
