What is shown on the postcard
The postcard shows the main facade of a monumental Neo-Renaissance building. Above the main entrance, the inscription “МУЗЕЙ В.І. ЛЕНІНА” is clearly visible. The facade is adorned with Corinthian columns, a rusticated ground floor, and a prominent dome. Visitors are seen near the entrance, and a police officer in uniform stands on the left side next to a signpost. Green trees frame the scene on both sides.
Historical note
The building was constructed between 1898 and 1904, designed by architect Józef Janowski, to house the Municipal Museum of Artistic Industry. In 1950, during the Soviet period, it became the Lviv branch of the Central V. I. Lenin Museum, which remained active here until the early 1990s.
Present day
Today, the building at 20 Svobody Avenue houses the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv, which holds one of the most comprehensive collections of Ukrainian sacred art.
