What is shown on the postcard
The image shows the three-story semi-circular facade of the light-stone building, topped with a glass dome and decorated with a bas-relief frieze. In front of the structure, there is a paved area, green trees, a section of the cobblestone street with a parked Moskvitch car, and a few pedestrians.
Historical note
The building was constructed in 1910–1912 designed by architect Pavel Aleshin to house the Pedagogical Museum. In 1917–1918, it served as the headquarters of the Central Rada of the Ukrainian People’s Republic. From 1938 to 1982, it housed the Kyiv Branch of the Central V. I. Lenin Museum before the collection was relocated to a new building on Leninsky Komsomol Square (now Ukrainian House).
Present day
Today, the architectural monument is known as the Kyiv City Teacher’s House. The building suffered significant damage during a missile strike on Kyiv in October 2022, which damaged its dome and windows, and is currently undergoing restoration.
