What is shown on the postcard

The bronze figure of the poet stands on a tall granite pedestal; trees and fragments of early 20th-century residential buildings appear behind. The composition presents the monument as a landmark of a quiet central street.

Historical note

The monument was unveiled on 10 November 1962. Sculptor Viktor Yelenin; architects A. Dobrovolsky and V. Kolpakov. It stands at the intersection of Pushkinska and Bohdanivska streets in the historic centre.

Present day

The Pushkin monument remains in place and is listed among Kyiv’s cultural heritage landmarks. Pushkinska Street has been partly rebuilt, but the sculpture is still a recognisable stop on routes through the old centre.
