Old postcards Images from the cartoon movie

The Soviet postcards in this subsection are based on animated films and date from 1955 to 1981. The largest group is a 1975 series from Nu, Pogodi (Well, Just You Wait), the Soyuzmultfilm cartoon series about the Wolf chasing the Hare, released from 1969 and directed by Vyacheslav Kotyonochkin. One more card from the series is dated 1981.

The earliest cards are from 1955. An Unusual Match was made that same year by Mstislav Pashchenko and Boris Dyozhkin and tells of a sports contest between teams of wooden and soft toys. The Pipe and the Bear adapts a tale by Sergei Mikhalkov about a bear who finds a pipe, and warns against smoking.

The 1959–1964 cards often recall cartoons of earlier years. Fedya Zaitsev, on a 1959 card, was made in 1948 by the sisters Valentina and Zinaida Brumberg from a script by Nikolai Erdman and Mikhail Volpin. Zai and Chik was directed in 1952 by Alexander Ivanov and Ivan Aksenchuk; its card was printed in 1962.

Here the gap between a cartoon’s premiere and the printing of its card can exceed ten years, so the film’s own date is worth checking separately.
